Mereka Berkata ... Tun Tan Siew Sin

Tun Tan Siew Sin (21 May 1916 – 17 March 1988)
“The Malays, through UMNO, were generous enough to relax the citizenship laws of this country to such extent that within 12 months of independence, 90 percent who were still non-citizens after nearly 100 years of colonial rule in the Malay States, obtained their citizenship. In return for this major concession, the MCA and the MIC agreed to continue the policy of preserving the special position of the Malays while at the same time upholding the legitimate interest of other communities.”
Kata-kata ini dipetik dari blog Jebat Must Die. Baca juga komen blog Reveller Guerilla mengenai tulisan Dr Mahathir, "Siew Sin on Sino-Malay Relation".

"It will be seen that this simple phrase could mean nothing. It could also mean everything. It was vague, it was also comprehensive and it was comprehensive enough as to be capable of being interpreted in a way which could mean the virtual elimination of Chinese economic interests in important sectors of the economy. Here again, with independence, this omnibus provision was scaled down to a precise definition so that it will be clear to all what this provision means. You will find it in article 153 of the Constitution."
